Why We Were There!

Okay, this was a mission trip, and we did do work; however, it was very important to the pastor of Charity and Faith Mission that WE get to see the beauty of South Africa before we work in the not so wonderful places.  South Africa is BEAUTIFUL - it actually reminds us of San Diego/Southern California. It is very sad how their society was impact by the Dutch when the government voted in Apartheid.

The first two days we were in Stoffel Park.  The entire team constructed houses (metal shacks called zozos), planted gardens, played soccer with kids, and saw over 400 people conducting medical screening.  On Easter Weekend a new church -a branch church - was started in this area.  Over 150 Americans came to serve the people of Stoffel Park and to introduce them to a new church.

A Zozo

One of my favorite times all week!  The mothers carry their babies around like this instead of using strollers.

Yes, they have entertainment - outdoor pool anyone?  At least it is shaded and they cover the pool table at night.
