The foot washing was a great way to show the people of Mamelodi that we were there to help. We were able to share the story behind foot washing and share how we, like Jesus, wanted to serve them as he did the disciples. In addition to washing feet, we gave each participant a new pair of socks and shoes. With winter arriving soon, so many elected to take new running shoes or closed leather shoes so they could put their sandals away for next year.
The home visits were to take food, which had been packed up in Cincinnati during the Thanksgiving food drive, and deliver is to local families identified as having a significant need. Charity and Faith Mission, our partners in Mamelodi, identified these families. Most of them were HIV positive and being followed by the Hospice nurses.
